Music has always taken a big role for Keylo. Since a little brat he has been listening almost to the same
records as his big brother Kasio from Nuspirit Helsinki collective.
At the start of 1996, Keylo started to spin with his friends and organize hip hop/funk parties himself because
nothing special was happening in his small boring hometown in eastern Finland.
At the beginning of 1999 he got a kick-start when he moved to Netherlands, which doubled his record collection
and experiences and gave him his first international gigs in Utrecht.
Because a cover is a Cover is a Cover is a Cover
Because a Cover – that’s a reason and a consequence and ...
Because a Cover is a time machine
Because there’s too much of good music already created, so there’s no need to create anew
Because in such a way we reach for the stars that have already passed away
Because a Cover is a living proof that after-party can be a pre-party and the other-way around
Because everything in life tends to repeat itself
Because of what will happen if copyright fee will be established for our preferred sexual position
And ‘cause it’s fun more
Main theme of this festival is a “Cover” or, as otherwise stated, re-creation of copyright-protected
works. The “Cover” phenomenon is an urgent and problematic topic of today. Questions, such as:
“what is a “Cover?”, “why does a “Cover” exist?”, and “when
does a “Cover” come to being?” – are not easily answered, as that depends on the
various circumstances of the musical industry and of the general understanding of creation. So, how can we
describe a “Cover”? more
