The Idea:
The main topic of this year’s Culture Barn is a “Cover”. “Cover” is a
phenomenon that gets on our “cultural” nerves, but at the same time it represents a synonym for
creative work. Copies often supercede the original works, and plagiarists often return lost fame to the original
authors. And there’s lots of fun to re-create something in a new way!
And YOU can also do it! The Culture Barn invites you to experience the joy of “covering”. All
you need to know is what you like and we invite you to represent your own version of it.
The same, but in another fashion:
We’re inviting to create a “Cover” for:
A song.
Uncover Yourself”. Now you can interpret the work of a popular artist and send a copy of it to the organizers
of this festival. The author of best interpretation will appear on the Culture Barn stage.
A movie.
Many movies are created and many stories are told. Create your own story, while using the movie plots that are
known to you. The most-interesting films will appear on the festival’s video-projection screens and TV
channels.
An image.
If you like a carnival, this is your time. Take a picture of yourself dressed as a known pop-star. The Culture
Barn will exhibit your photos. Really good-ones will be invited to the festival.
P.S. Extra “Pravda” Point.
Free-of-charge journal of opinion is searching for authors. Striving authors are invited to create a text
“cover” – Lithuanian text for legendary songs.
Hum Madonna’s “Material Girl” or Beatles’ “Yesterday” for yourself, and let
your pen do the job.
Participants:
Create and participate. We don’t care, who you are, as all can be “Covers”.
Time:
Competition starts on June 1, 2005, and ends on August 5, 2005.
Prizes:
Imitator’s fame, the Culture Barn arena, and material goods (are awaiting the winners of each
“Cover” theme.)
